Data Security

StarBlocker is designed around a simple security principle: sensitive screen content is safest when it is never retained.

Screen content is evaluated, then discarded

Screen images and readable text are used only to evaluate the screen against the rules you chose. For ordinary user accounts, the image, OCR text, window title, keyword context, and AI explanation are never written to StarBlocker's databases or application logs. We retain only minimized operational results such as timestamps, fixed outcome codes, internal rule or category IDs, controlled general category tags, and AI usage totals. These records do not contain the messages, passwords, emails, documents, or other readable content that appeared on your screen.

Zero-data-retention AI processing

Production screen evaluations are sent through OpenRouter using pinned routes configured to require zero data retention, deny provider data collection, and prevent fallback to unapproved routes. Only the content needed for the immediate evaluation is sent. StarBlocker does not use screen content to train models.

What StarBlocker does keep

We store information you deliberately provide so your selected features work. This can include account details, configured rules, registered devices, journal entries and check-in notes, habits, counters, forum posts, accountability settings, location or Wi-Fi settings you enable, and subscription status. We also keep minimized security, reliability, enforcement, and billing records. The Privacy Policy describes these categories in detail.

Account protection

Passwords are securely hashed, data is encrypted in transit, access tokens are scoped, and internal access is restricted. Every account must set up authenticator-app multi-factor authentication (MFA) at signup, and every new sign-in requires that second factor.

Deletion and backups

Deleting your account permanently removes the account and its attached data from active systems and cannot be undone. Deleted data ages out of database backups within 30 days. If you email support@starblocker.io and ask us to remove your account data from backups sooner, we will complete that removal within 7 days. If a backup is restored before the deletion period ends, the deletion is reapplied. Limited billing records may remain where law requires.

No system can promise absolute security. StarBlocker's approach is to combine strong account controls with aggressive data minimization so the most sensitive information from your screen is not present to be stolen in the first place.
