Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of StarBlocker's applications for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, our website, and related services (the "Service"), provided by StarBlocker ("StarBlocker," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

StarBlocker is a productivity and focus tool that analyzes your own screen to help you stay on task according to rules you configure. It is not a medical device or a treatment for any condition, and it is not a substitute for professional advice.

What that looks like depends on the platform. On macOS, Windows and Android, StarBlocker reads the screen and acts on what it finds. On iPhone it reads what you do in Safari, on the same rules; other apps can be blocked or time-limited through Apple's Screen Time, but they are never read or judged.

StarBlocker also works by making it cost something to weaken your own settings, and using it means agreeing to that. While a rule is running, switching it off, editing it, loosening a time limit or ending a mission early requires you to complete whichever unlock task you chose; the app relaunches if it is killed and will not quit or sign out while a rule is live. If you have an accountability partner, they are told when protection weakens, when a device goes quiet, and when the app is removed. Removing a partner takes effect 24 hours after you ask, and they are told as soon as you ask. Turning the desktop monitor off is delayed rather than immediate. These delays are the product, not a defect in it.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current.

3. Subscriptions, billing & price changes

Paid features require a subscription billed through our payment processor on a recurring basis (for example, monthly or annually — your "term"). We may offer a free trial; unless you cancel before it ends, the trial converts to a paid subscription at the then-current price.

Your price is locked for your current term. The price you agree to when you start or renew a subscription applies for the full duration of that term — we will not change it mid-term. Pricing is subject to change at the end of your subscription term. If we change the price, the new price applies only to your next renewal, and we will make the renewal price available to you before it takes effect. You can cancel before renewal if you don't wish to continue at the new price.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each term until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through your account or our payment processor's portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term, and you retain access until then. Except where required by law or expressly stated, payments are non-refundable.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including: using it to monitor a device or person without proper authorization; interfering with or disrupting the Service; attempting to access accounts or data that are not yours; reverse engineering except as permitted by law; or using the Service to violate any law or third-party right. You may only run StarBlocker on devices and screens you own or are authorized to monitor.

5. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal or internal business use. We retain all rights, title, and interest in the Service, including all intellectual property.

6. Your content

You retain rights to content you submit (for example, blog posts through our contributor program, and posts in the community forum). By submitting content, you grant us a license to host, display, and distribute it as needed to operate and promote the Service. You are responsible for content you submit and represent that you have the rights to it.

Posts in the community forum are held to the rules published in the forum itself. In short: keep to self-control, habits, focus, accountability and asking for or offering support; do not name specific explicit sites, apps or content; nothing for sale and no self-promotion; leave politics, doctrine and public controversies outside; no real names, contact details or anything identifying a specific person, workplace or address, yours or anyone else's; and do not offer or ask for a specific diagnosis, dose or prescription. Every post is checked against those rules before it is stored, and a post that is refused tells you which rule it broke.

Moderation exists and it is human as well as automatic. Any member can report a post; a moderator can remove a post or a whole thread, and can stop an account from posting. A removal tells the author which rule it broke, and a ban states its reason, which you can contest at support@starblocker.io. Nobody edits your words. What you post is yours and so is responsibility for it.

7. Creator & affiliate program

If you participate in our creator or affiliate program, additional terms apply, including required disclosures (for example, FTC-mandated disclosure of your affiliate relationship), approved-claims guidelines, and our commission and payout terms. We may modify or end the program, and we may withhold or reverse commissions for fraud, abuse, or violations of these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its classifications will be accurate in every case. StarBlocker does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StarBlocker will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

Deleting your account. You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from the bottom of the Plan & Billing page. Deletion removes your account and the data attached to it, signs you out on every device, and cancels any active subscription immediately — which means you give up the remainder of a term you have already paid for, and, as stated in section 3, that remainder is not refunded. If you only want to stop future billing while keeping access until the end of the term you paid for, cancel your subscription instead of deleting your account. Deletion cannot be undone.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

The Service is provided by GAMMA GLOBAL LIMITED LLC, a limited liability company organized in Indiana, United States. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana and the applicable federal law of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You and we agree that the state and federal courts located in Indiana are the venue for any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service.

Nothing in these Terms removes any right or remedy you have under the mandatory consumer-protection law of the place where you live.
